Just a thought ... but maybe you could make the cake just the way your father liked it as a tribute to him, a special way to pay tribute to him, remember him and mark the day that he entered the world - a celebration of him. Tears are like fairy dust to a cake batter.
My thoughts are with you on this emotionally raw and heart wrenching day as you feel your loss. All my love to you and your children.
This probably doesn't help - but we never really lose them... they are inside us. I too would make the cake anyway - who knows, he may blow his candle out when you're not looking... NB -the anti spam word for this comment was cyake - which is nearly cake ;-) random!
My dad passed away 10 years ago. He never met any of his grandchildren but we bake a chocolate cake every year and they wish Grandpa Bob a happy birthday. So, I think Sally's idea is a ripper and send you lots of love. Lisa.
I also think Sally’s idea is a great one, It was the first thing I thought when I read your post. Make the cake, it will be hard and sad, but I am sure it will be very healing and a lovely way to celebrate your love for your Dad. I hope the holidays were a little easier for you than you anticipated.
I have tears in my eyes. A big hug to you. Sally's idea is great. When you have the emotional and physical energy, you know when the time is right. Love Beky
Cathie darling this is such a sweet, gentle and loving post. You are a wonderful person and a great daughter for remembering your father in such a way. He is with you in spirit and is watching over you and your family.
