Swaps & Pressies

I have been anxiously awaiting the postman recently in anticipation of gorgeous treasures.

I received my beautiful pincushion from the big Foxslane Pincushion swap from Angie and absolutely love it as well as the gorgeous hand stamped strawberry tags.

Thanks Kate for a fabulous swap, I definitely enjoyed being a part of it.

The other treasure that was delivered personally at last weeks NCB has already gone for walks to the park with the little Miss of the house.
At least the tea towels are mine to keep, but as I told Ms Clutterpunk, I could not possibly use them to dry dishes.

Any ideas are more than welcome. What would you make them into?

Speaking of swaps, have you heard about this one, I am hooked now thanks to Ms Kate.
Wish me luck.

Picked you some flowers on the way home from kinder, "they not smell mummy", but they sure are pretty.

Have a wonderful week friends

I really enjoyed making this and it didn't take that long either.
I know, I really did surprise myself!

For some serious creativity, you'd better pop round to Kirsty's.

Flea Market finds

Happy Monday friends!

I think I have an addiction, it can be good, but it can also be bad at times, especially when we only live in a 2 bedroom house and storage space is limited.

But how could I say no....I mean REALLY, I was so excited that I quickly handed over my $3 and smiled all the way home, looking at my 2.5 year old as he kept saying
"that nice mummy!"

Isn't it lovely?
Let me put the kettle on and see what everyone else has found this week.

Choc Raspberry cupcakes

I'm glad you liked my hearts yesterday, they are definitely very sweet as they are made of lovely fondant.

I promised you some cupcakes and took on board your fantastic cupcake critiques and put together a moist, not too sweet cupcake with a surprise inside and topped it off with a NEVER fail chocolate ganache icing and some sweet hearts to top it off.

Choc Raspberry Cupcakes

makes 24 conversions

ingredients
  • 90g dark chocolate
  • 40g milk chocolate
  • 250ml water
  • 180g butter
  • 225g caster sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 200g self raising flour
  • 30g cocoa
  • 100g almond meal
  • 200g frozen raspberries
method
  • preheat oven to 170 C/150 C fan, line cupcake pans with papers
  • combine chocolate and water in a small saucepan and place over a very low heat and stir until melted and combined
  • beat butter and sugar with electric mixer until pale, add eggs one at a time and beat well as you add the eggs
  • sift flour and cocoa together in a small bowl, add almond meal. add to butter mixture and mix just until combined
  • fold in melted chocolate and then carefully fold in the raspberries
  • spoon into prepared papers and bake for about 30 minutes, test with a skewer
  • allow to cool and then ice

Chocolate ganache

ingredients
  • 400 g chocolate (I used a mix of both dark & milk)
  • 190ml cream
method
  • place chocolate and cream in a small saucepan over a very low heat and stir every so often until combined and melted, keep a eye on it as it can burn
  • allow to cool and thicken before icing cupcakes
tip for dark or milk chocolate ganache is normally a ratio of 2:1 chocolate to cream
for white chocolate ganache it's about 3:1 white chocolate to cream
if you ever have a ganache that after is cooled is too runny, reheat slightly and add more chocolate

Enjoy your Friday friends and sending you a birthday cupcake Mel

My Creative Space...

Finally home after a busy morning and back to making some more hearts and stars.

Thank you for all your cupcake feedback, very helpful indeed.

After I finish these I think I may bake some chocolate and raspberry cupcakes, come back tomorrow for some tea and a taste.

In the meantime, why don't you pop round to Kirsty's and see what everyone else is up to.

How do you like your cupcake?

Obviously the edible kind, but I have been pondering this for a while as I am not a cupcake eater I always wonder what people like in a cupcake.
  • Is it the cake bit, the icing, both?
  • How much icing do you like on your cupcake, is there such a thing as too much.
  • What proportion of icing to cake do you like?
I'd love to know, stay for a cuppa and a chat, let me know what your ideal cupcake is.

This one is finally on it's way to a secret someone that will hopefully like it.

Have a great week and thanks for the chat

Flea Market finds

(painted black)

Technically it's a demolition yard find, but it still is a great find.

Old, weathered and very bland looking school locker has been given a new life with a clean up and paint and will now house my lovely magazines which I love to collect.

I am popping round to see what everyone else has this week while I wait for this paint to dry.
